SUGGESTIONS JANUARY 2010
ASANA: CHATURANGA DANDASANA
- Chaturanga is a pose that strengthens arms, shoulders, and wrists. It also tones the abdomen, the body's core, and legs.
- To reach this pose, come in from the plank pose, hands and feet on the ground, and the body aligned from head to toes. Once in this plank pose, activate legs, abdomen and arms. While you come down bending your elbows, make sure shoulders are straight, chest is open, arms are next to the body, and body is in alignment, without lifting or dropping the pelvis.
- This pose or asana is a part of the sun salutation sequence. We can also practice it independently and maintain it anywhere form 10 to 30 seconds.
- For beginners, this pose can be intense because it requires general strength. We can modify it by first placing our knees on the ground.
