Training: "Somatic Experiencing and Yoga"
Somatic experiencing considers feelings, movement and consciousness the main focus of the learning process, challenging the ability of self-observation as the source of knowledge over oneself and the world. Can your sensory and personal experience build up knowledge? Yes.
How can you develop your ability of listening to your own body with a sensorimotor approach to grow a nourishing and safe yoga practice that can unfold your life potential?
The art of refining body and consciousness requires you to make contact with somatic experiencing from the non-violent action, the honesty and the truth that each moment materializes.
The results you achieve from your practice will change depending on the way you practice while on the yoga mat. The way you design the class for your student will vary according on the way you perceive and understand the body.
In this module of the training we will present you with notions and practices that were introduced during the XX century to techniques of body awareness like Sense-perception, Eutony, the Feldenkrais method, Body-mind centering and Sensorial Consciousness; applying some of their contribution to the yoga practice.
This module of the training will address from a conceptual and experiential point of view:
The somatic experiencing, assimilation, totality and coordination of the structure. The feeling and perception, strength and letting go. The dynamics and integrity in the action, the economy of the effort.
The dynamic relationship with gravity, the coherence between tension and direction of the movement, the effects of the awareness of the bones in the muscular strength, the relation between center and periphery, the idea of the “kinetic melody”.
During the course you will receive tools that can be used to work on your practice and with your students, as well as a manual with the conceptual development of the module, the exercises and recommended bibliography.
Exercises and practices in groups, couples and for individuals will be introduced.
We will apply the introduced concepts to the usual asana sequences of the hatha vinyasa classes in order to reflect on their practical use.
